Here’s an updated tutorial for rooting all Galaxy S3 models including AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Canadian, US Cellular, MetroPCS, Cricket, GT-i9300, GT-i9305, and even Galaxy S3 Mini. (It will not work on Verizon S3 as it has a locked bootloader.)

For those of you who want to get most out of your Galaxy S3 GT-i9300, you will certainly want to root your Galaxy S3. Rooting your Galaxy S3 gives you lots of benefits like full control over your phone, ability to install custom ROMs, and a whole lot more. Looking for a fast and stable custom ROM based on Android 5.1.1 for your AT&T or T-Mobile Galaxy S3?
If so, check out the latest Dirty Unicorns ROM, which is an excellent custom ROM based on the latest Android 5.1.1 and brings you a high level of great customizations. Camera works great out of the box (I recommend the Google Camera on Play Store so you get Panorama, Lens Blur, and PhotoSphere modes) along with excellent navigation customization where you can customize all of your buttons (including Home, Back, and Menu buttons with short, long, and double-press) or even disable them altogether and go with soft navigation buttons, which you can also customize with your favorite shortcuts.
Want a solid and stable Android 5.1.1 custom ROM that’s super fast? Check out the latest AICP ROM for Galaxy S3, available for Sprint SPH-L710, Verizon SCH-i535, and GT-i9300.
Based on latest and great Android 5.1.1, AICP ROM brings you speed and performance from Google’s latest improvements to both system speed and battery life. This ROM is built on CM12.1 which means you will get all of the standard features of CM12.1 plus much more. Also this ROM is “stable” for Sprint and Verizon S3, meaning it’s highly recommended as daily driver.
For those of you who have been waiting for official CM12.1 with latest Android 5.1.1, we have some good news for you as official CM12.1 ROMs are finally here!
These are based on latest CyanogenMod sources with latest Android 5.1.1, meaning you will get all of the new Android 5.1.1 features including soft buttons with hardware keys disabled.
Want to experience Android 5.1 on your Galaxy S3 today? Even newer smartphones like Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 don’t have Android 5.1 yet but you can already get it for your Galaxy S3 through CM12.1 ROM.
The CM12.1 ROM builds are available for all AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, Canadian, and GT-i9300 Galaxy S3 models. Although these are unofficial builds compiled from CyanogenMod sources, they are actually pretty stable, I haven’t found a single bug yet so far.
For those of you who have been waiting for a Android 5.0.2 Lollipop ROM, there’s been many beta versions in the last few months.
If you own the GT-i9300 model, you are in luck as the Lollipop ROM runs near flawless with everything working out of the box. As for AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, or Verizon S3 users, you will also get pretty stable build except the camera/camcorder is not working. (You can get still photos working sorta with Open Camera app.) If this is a concern to you, you may want to wait out few more weeks for camera fix.

For this week’s Sprint Galaxy S3 ROM of the Week, check out Wicked X ROM by XDA user Bilgerryan. I was actually itching to try out this ROM for weeks but hesitated as earlier versions required bootloader update.
Well, the latest version 8 doesn’t require bootloader update (as I believe it’s because KTweaker kernel is used) and have successfully installed on my Sprint S3 with a really old bootloader (I think my last update was ICS).
For those of you looking to convert your Galaxy S3 into OnePlus One, we’ve got a surprise for you (if you haven’t heard yet). I know many of you are actually trying to buy a OnePlus One or perhaps want to check it out.

Based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, LiquidSmooth ROM brings you the best and great Android along with root, customization, and many countless features.
I have been following LiquidSmooth ROM for awhile now (few years) and it used to be one of my favorite custom ROMs. Well, they stopped developing for a period of time but they are back better than ever, with killer features like custom kernel built-in the ROM so you can easily overclock to 1.836Ghz to play your graphic-intensive games.
For this week’s Galaxy S3 ROM of the week, check out C-ROM, available for most Galaxy S3 variants including AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, Metro PCS, Cricket, US Cellular, C-Spire, GT-i9300, and GT-i9305.

For this week’s T-Mobile Galaxy S3 ROM of the week, check out the Android 4.3 ROM with root.
Based on the leaked MJC Android 4.3 for T-Mobile Galaxy S3, you can experience first-hand on what’s coming with Android 4.3 for T-Mobile S3.
You may have tried the AT&T version from couple weeks ago but of course the T-Mobile version if much better for those of you who also need wifi-calling.
For those of you with AT&T Galaxy S3 SGH-i747 and T-Mobile Galaxy S3 SGH-T999 (NEW), you can now try the leaked Android 4.3 stock firmware that will bring your device up to latest Samsung Android 4.3 firmware.
Now, with the latest Android 4.3 firmwares, Samsung includes new “Knox” security, which may cause pain for rooted users as it records whether you have a rooted device or not. I highly DO NOT recommend the regular route as it’s only going to install Knox security, which you probably don’t want.
So, you want to root your U.S. or Canadian Galaxy S3 with the Qualcomm dual-core 1.5Ghz CPU?
UPDATE: Please see updated root method here instead!
If your Galaxy S3 model started with SGH-T999, SGH-I747, or SPH-L710, you can follow this step-by-step guide and root your phone within about 5 minutes. No, this will not erase any apps or settings on your phone and does not affect your phone in any way other than install ClockworkMod Recovery and give you root. (So if you have problems after rooting, don’t just assume it’s from rooting, it’s not.)
