AICP ROM for Galaxy S3! [Sprint/Verizon/GT-i9300/GT-i9305][Android 5.1.1]

Want a solid and stable Android 5.1.1 custom ROM that’s super fast?  Check out the latest AICP ROM for Galaxy S3, available for Sprint SPH-L710, Verizon SCH-i535, and GT-i9300.

Based on latest and great Android 5.1.1, AICP ROM brings you speed and performance from Google’s latest improvements to both system speed and battery life.  This ROM is built on CM12.1 which means you will get all of the standard features of CM12.1 plus much more.  Also this ROM is “stable” for Sprint and Verizon S3, meaning it’s highly recommended as daily driver.

For customization, AICP offers more than a dozen customization options including customization for your status bar, head-up notifications, display, system animations, recents panel, and more.  For navigation, you will be able to fully customize your hardware navigation buttons or even enable soft keys while disabling the hardware keys, just like a OnePlus One.  Other navigation features include SlimPIE Controls, Gesture Anywhere, App Circle Bar, and App Sidebar.  If you wanted to have all-out navigation shortcuts, this ROM is going to give you all that on top of Android 5.1.1.

Flashed the ROM & GApps but only up to updating Android & optimizing apps then it keep on rebooting again & again on my galaxy s3 gt-i9300. I followed all the steps as per flashing ROM video but still the same result. During the installation somehow there’s a message like “no IMG”. Can’t remember exactly what it say. Any idea? Thanks.

I am also facing the boot loop problem at ‘Optimizing 90 apps’. After reading other comments, this seems to be a problem with the ROM. Anyone have solved this yet or will this require a new build only?

Hello! Gestures really works on my GT-I9300 ? I’m so excited to try out this cool ROM, so let me know if gestures like Smart Scroll (met on S4 Revolution ROM) works on this ROM. Thanks!

  3. Mattis says:

Ok, first time rooting and installing custom rom. I managed to do it all, but stuck in a boot loop.
Optimizing 90 apps, then reboot and optimizing again..
I got a GT-I9300, but is there a difference in whether I have a EU or US model?
    I followed your instructions from
    Perfect guides for a newbie!
But now I’m stuck.. Any hints?

Hi Max, been a keen follower of yours for a many few years now. Installed this rom on August 7, works well but for some reason mobile data has an exclamation mark with it and doesn’t work. I’ve re-set APN settings as per my UK network supplier, however it still shows the same exclamation mark. Any clues on what could be causing it and how I can possibly rectify the issue?

    • K says:

I also have the same problem

    • Roy says:

Fished around everywhere and couldn’t find a solution to the mobile data issue with this rom. Figured I’d try one of the other S3 i9300 5.1.1 custom roms out there.

Tried Dirty Unicorns – Looked great but location settings weren’t working and struggled with serious lagging and black screen issues
Then tried BlissPop – for me it was a bit clunky and, again, performance lag issues from the outset
Next up was crDroid – We have a winner! Buttery smooth performance, no lag issues and problem-free connectivity to data, Bluetooth and location services. I honestly can’t remember my phone running smoother. If you can’t solve the AICP rom issues you could do a lot worse than trying the crDroid rom.

I had prob problems in data and Bluetooth connectivity it didn’t work at all so can you help me

    • Vivek says:

I also have the same issue (on my GT-I9300). My mobile data and Bluetooth are not working.

Mobile Data: I tried to set the APN manually – but still the data doesn’t work (tried switching back & forth between Airplane-mode, 2G/3G, reboots, etc).

Bluetooth: I have no idea what to do with this. The device neither identify nearby bluetooth devices nor is visible.

If this doesn’t work – I’m planning to try out CM11, which is officially supported:

  6. Tomas says:

flashed it on i9300 by following your instructions, but i get bootloops everytime i try to flash it again, any suggestions?

Tried formating (with gapps or without gapps) but nothing happens!
Please give me a solution for this boot loop because I really want to try this rom!!

    Thank you for any response!

  8. jhh says:

hey those of you who get a boot loop, on aicp site you can see that there is no support for gti-9300 as written in this article

  9. Brakkeleer says:

Same problem here on my gt-i9300, stays in reboot loop after optimizing apps.Wiped and formatted everything, nothing helps! Will there be a fix soon?

  13. Vicente says:

Hi, I’m from Chile and installed the ROM and it works perfect, but the 3G data doesn’t works, the signal has an exclamation on its logo, the signal works fine (can do calls) and the SMS too, and also can connect to the WiFi. Checked the APN and it was all right.
Please help, I really want this ROM.

I have a question and could not find any other place on this website to contact Max or other experts. So here it goes

I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 and thanks to your youtube video I was able to root it. I then went ahead and installed Cyanogenmod 11. I see that we can install the later versions of CM based on other posts on this website. However, I am just a newbie and find CM11 good enough. The phone is already out of contract period and I was wondering if I could now use it with a CDMA carrier in India. What would it entail to use the phone with another carrier. When I go to preferred network type in CM11 settings I see several other APNs already listed (boost , verizon, freedom pop, etc). Lets assume I find the APN for an Indian carrier and add it to the list what else would I need to do to use this phone in India?

Thanks a lot for your response in advance.

Hi guys, would love to know if anybody has successfully flashed the GT-I9305 LTE 2gb model. I’m in Australia and can’t seem to find any roms for this model phone, just the earlier i9300.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

  16. jerry says:

So, after all the good words about how stable and perfect this ROM, I see from comments here the Mobile Data connectivity bug is still unsolved.
I have the same problem, no internet connection, with my GT-i9300. Only works with WIFI.
So it is definitely a deal-breaker…

    • Roy says:

As I mentioned in an earlier post I had the same connectivity issue (also had problems with Chrome and Firefox crashing, black screen and lagging). Waited over two weeks with no widely agreed fix for any of them. Now using the crDroid rom which is running perfectly and bug-free after two weeks.

      • jerry says:

Yes I saw your post and this is exactly what I’m doing right now- preparing to install your suggested ROM. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience!

      • jerry says:

        Follow Up:
So, yesterday I followed Roy’s suggestion and moved to crDroid GT-i9300 ROM.
After small initial fight I had with the ROM when I was trying to restore my backups (with My Backup Pro app) and had some problems with root permissions that caused the app to fail and restart, eventually I managed to do the restoring fine.
Except this, after a day running this ROM I can say everything works perfectly! Bye bye to mobile data problem of AICP. Mobile Data connection was automatically set and work flawlessly.
Also, the smoothness is not comparable to AICP. I just feels like crDroid is much much more stable and faster than AICP. So, I’m liking it.
        Thanks again to Roy.

  17. Gen4sr says:

    Hi Roy/Jerry,
Are you guys running I9305 or I9300 phones?

    • jerry says:

      I’m running GT-i9300

    • Roy says:

      I run GT-I9300

With regards to the rooting issue Jerry mentioned, for some inexplicable reason crDroid’s default installation is to leave developer options disabled. So you need to manually enable it and debugging to facilitate root access

      • jerry says:

Roy, I found today a major problem. GPS is not working at all. On my previous ROM (CM11) I had no problems. Now with the crDroid ROM there’s no GPS locking at all, even doesn’t find any satellites. Roy- did you have something like this?

  22. Alex says:

Hi Max ! Any idea of how I can connect my S3 (GT-I9300) to a TV via MHL to HDMI cable ? It’s really annoying that I can’t connect trough this way since Android 5.0.x (or 5.1.1) update. Please reply 🙂

  23. Vivek says:

    Hi Guys,

I have flashed AICP 9.0-SABERMOD on GT-i9300 with current Andriod version 5.1.1, the issue i am facing is neither mobile data is working nor it is connecting to Wifi. so there is no way i am connected to internet and cannot download any apps. I can provide any other details as per request.
After flashing rom and gapps when the phone starts as fresh for setup, that time i have seen ‘E’ on network bar, this means mobile data was there but in the next step it cannot connect to WIFI and then it does not connect to mobile data too.

    Can anyone help urgently??

  24. Vee says:

I did this upgrade on my GTi9300 and everything went well installation-wise. The only issue I’m having is that data wont work. I can send and receive messages and calls and wi-fi works. Just not data. I have checked time and time again to make sure data IS turned on (and yes, I have data available on my service), and I’ve tried re-starting ect. But no go. I also installed it to my partners GTi9305 with the i9305 version and His works 100% …he did have to restart to get data to go, but it works for him ..not me.

Is there a fix for this problem or should I try another ROM? Before this one I was using LS and it worked well, just got old and slow..which is why I changed to this new AICP one.

    Thanks for your help.

  28. Nitishwar says:

i’ve installed the rom succesfully but there are few issues with it.
the AICP OTA update isn’t working, heads up notification is missing, camera app isn’t there, Gapps not installing.

  29. Tim661CA says:

Hey all I’m a noob. I have been doing lots of research. Max is soo smart. I think I watched all his videos regarding Samsung Galaxy S3.
I have ordered a Samsung Galaxy S3 (Sprint) it should be here Saturday. I believe it comes with stock Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Should I flash to this firmware when i get it to ND8 Android 4.4.2 [Latest] OR leave it with 4.0 ICS ? I plan to root it and try out the different custom roms. Or should I just update the bootloader to ND8?
Thanks for any suggestions. I just want as much info as possible before I start messing with the phone.
