Android 4.4.3 + Root for Galaxy S3! [Gummy]

For this week’s ROM of the Week, check out the latest Android 4.4.3 + Root for your Galaxy S3!

UPDATE: Please CLICK HERE to see latest stable version of Gummy ROM with Android 4.4.4 here INSTEAD!

I’ve been flashing all kinds of 4.4.3 custom ROMs last few days and have found Gummy ROM to be the most stable.  CM11 is pretty good also but video recording is broke currently while Gummy ROM has both photo/video recording working 100% flawless.

Android 4.4.3 brings a TON of speed/performance improvements by 20-30% on most Android devices I have tested including the S3.  It’s amazing in a sense as I have revived many of my older Android smartphones with the latest Android 4.4.3.

Hi Max. just downloaded the ROM for my GT-I9300 and it continually goes into boot loop. I have followed the instructions “(If for some reason you end up in a boot loop, reboot into recovery, go to Advanced Wipe for TWRP or Mounts & Storage for CWM, format/wipe /system, then re-install ROM.)” So I decided to reuse my old Supernexus” ROM and it works fine. any ideas thanks

I think this ROM maybe faulty, Re downloaded it and still faulty. So I have given up on this one. Sorry Max was looking forward to trying it

Installs fine on i9300 but camera don’t work

  6. Baldur says:

Tried and on my i9300. Did all the wipes. Camera not working.

  7. argrithmag says:

Do we have to flash a new antenna/modem rom for this? I’ve seen on a couple other roms they require having the latest antenna rom installed (MOAR is the one i’m thinking of). I haven’t updated the antenna rom ever on this phone.

  8. argrithmag says:

To clarify, the baseband version. Do we have to have a specific one?

  9. James says:

Does anyone know where I can out my ringtones? I can see the default ones in the menu, but I can’t find the folder where they’re kept. Other than this minor issue, no problem so far.

  10. Harry says:

Hey, why is it saying this is for all gs3 phones when it is a d2lte? I have sprint and my phone uses d2spr, I’m kinda confused because the cyanogen cm-11 auto updater is also saying to update with a d2lte file.

  11. Mark Daly says:

Yes I too have the same issue as Baldur. Any suggestions??
It also goes into boot loop for a few minutes when turning on.

  12. Warby says:

Have installed this rom and camera doe snot work, does anyone have a fix?
I have run all wipes and installed more than once just in case.

  13. john says:

  15. ty diggler says:

This rom isnt very stable. It has too many focre closures. I had a small problem with the keyboard,so i had to dump my phone againt to make it work. going back to wicked sensations. But thanks for trying !!

  16. sammy says:

After install of ROM I get a message that says Google won’t work. Won’t let me log into play store. I have installed gapps but no luck! Suggestions?

    • ty diggler says:

That happedened to me when i tried this rom also. Do another wipe. That should fix it. BUt your gonna have alot of force closures on it. This rom isnt stable enough to keep if you want everything working 100 percent.

  17. stevenbrooklyn says:

i’m on a sprint galaxy s3 and my rom is working perfectly fine except the battery life could be better… hey max is there a different kernel available to help with the battery life?

    • To diggler says:

You didn’t have any force closures yet? I’m on sprint as well!! If not, Maybe I did something wrong!!

      • stevenbrooklyn says:

no not at all the only thing I did differently maybe was I also wiped the dalvik cache before flashing the rom

  18. Jeremy says:

I’m on sprint and it sems to be running good so far. Only problem is it wont read my sd card. Any suggestions?

  19. Chris says:

on sprint, all seems good. Camera works. Keyboard “stopped working”, but a full wipe fixed it. GApps wouldn’t update so I only wiped cache that solved it Before I installed I wiped Factory reset, cache, and Delvik 3xs before installing (which also mounted good). I hope this helps someone.

  20. Patrick says:

I found this today if you don’t want to install the full Gapps.

  21. Roberto says:

I stucked when I was installing. I couldn’t get this one work on my TMO S3.

    • Max says:

Stuck how? Did you get an error message? Or bootloop?

If bootloop, just format /system and re-install, your system partition probably got corrupt.

  22. moses a. says:

I installed the gummy rom, but cannot tether. any help available ?

  23. Jose says:

I did my try on this rom and is awesome, I like the new look android has on the peoples app better battery life finally, I’ll love it.

  24. James says:

I’ve had this ROM a few days now. There are a couple of apps which don’t quite work. The bluetooth says it’s not working a couple of times with my car. but I can use it for calls (I just don’t seem to be able to sync my phone book). After installing this rom and buying a new battery (from monoprice), this phone feels like new. Super fast, great battery life, it looks very slick. I’m very happy. I did a factory wipe, a delvik wipe and all seems to be good. I just haven’t tried the hotspot, which I don’t really need just now.

Not perfect, but it’s much better than what I had.

    Thanks Max.

  25. ben says:

hey max if i have the gummy rom on my phone from a previous install can i just apply the zip from the sd card to just update the rom or would i have to factory reset and then apply the rom?

  26. Pete D says:

    Hey Max Love this ROM
quick question, is there anyway to update the PRL?

    Samsung Galaxy S3 T-Mobile

I am not able to successfully install Gummy 4.4.3, if it is because I am using CWM v5.5.0.4, I looked for v6.0.4.3 or higher and found one on clockwork’s website; it is saved as an image file on my computer and I copied it over to my phone, I dont know know how to install this version of CVM. Help please, phone is useless at this point, I could go back to 4.1.2 rooted as I had but after all I went through and files and other items I lost, I am not stopping until I get kitkat working on my phone and rebuild from there. Thank you

  29. Brian Caldwell says:

Hi Max no problems with rom except I seem to have rapid battery drain, like 25% used in less than an hour, any suggestions? this rom is awesome otherwise, maybe my problem is not rom but battery? any help greatly appreciated, thanks again for all your work

  30. Andrew says:

Have been running this rom on my Sprint S3 for about a week now and its been running perfectly. Signal is great (with working LTE). Battery life is excellent and its a lot faster than any touchwiz rom and my old CM10.2.

  31. Amit says:

After installing on GT I9300 boot loop continues (wiped cache partition, Delvik Cache). Any solution?

  32. Dany says:

Can someone please tell me if this rom is overclockable? And if so, up to how much?

  33. Kevin says:

This ROM seems pretty cool, I have been using it for 1 month now on my At&t Gs3, battery is amazing.

Theres a couple of issues with it though. Apps stop working randomly, sometimes it reboots, not that often, but it does. And some icons dissappear when you resize the homescreen.

Latetly Ive been getting this problem that ive never had with any other rom, some rooted apps loose their logo and get a “FBI Anti-Piracy Warning” one and the app never works again. Even if I uninstall them and re install them.

I am switching roms because of the constant message saying that apps stopped working, because it shuts down and im having some wifi issues.

Just install my first custom ROM on my GS3 (Virgin Mobile – US). The issue I’m having is my PRL/Profile needs to be updated. I see someone ask above and you briefly mention something about TouchWiz. Isn’t touchwiz a total different ROM? Do you know of any methods to update the PRL/Profile on Gummy ROM? Thanks in advance
