For this week’s ROM of the week, check out JellyBAM ROM for Galaxy S3. Based on latest Android 4.2.2, JellyBAM ROM brings the best of Jelly Bean ROMs, specifically a mix of 3 ROMs, CM10.1, ParanoidAndroid, and AOKP.

With the latest JellyBAM ROM, you will get full CyanogenMod Settings, ParanoidAndroid Phone/Phablet/Tablet hybrid settings, and even AOKP ROM Control.

As an added bonus, you can also enjoy the latest CM10.1 HDR camera (I do recommend using a tripod or putting your phone on a stable platform).

Previous versions of JellyBAM were a bit buggy but the latest version seems to me very solid and packed with more features than you can ask. So give it a try for this week/weekend and do let me know what you think!

    Hi,
thanks for your articles! .. i’m actually using liquid smooth on a S3ATT US/CA … everytihng works great except the HDMI dongle .. withe the “new” stock rom (4.1.1) i can connect my S3 to a projector using the HDMI dongle … liquid smooth recognize the projector, but only a green/gray.. Have you any clue if this one or other 4.2.x verions have a working hdmi connection ?

    • massimo says:

Ok, i tryed this rom, i had frequetly crash of the system android and reboot … but the hdmi connection was working fine (on liquid smooth doesn’t work) … i then tryed the nightly build cynogedmod (22 feb) it looks much more stable and hdmi+buethout audio works great.

For what it’s worth, LS 4.2.2 on my S3Sprint worked fine… No issues at all.

      • Adam says:

Actually, this ROM has been crashing like crazy for me too!! They just put out 6.4 today for it, so here’s to hoping!! I really like this ROM, but on my sprint it almost cripples my phone. 3 times today I’ve had to yank my battery, and it’s only noon.

Had some problems with Gapps and thought I’d share. Was running JB Miui before with Gapps 20121011.

Did a factory reset, wiped cache & delvik and tried installing the rom 3 times. Each time Gapps kept crashing and i couldnt run play store or connect to my gmail/talk.

So i figured i’d give it up and go with CM10.1, which is silky smooth btw, and installed Gapps 20121212 and all worked perfectly.

But I decided to give it one last go and hey presto, no errors. I have to assume that this is because i installed Gapps 20121212 in CM10.1

So just in case anyone else experiences this problem 😉

  7. turnbasenerd says:

Hiya Max thanks for the recommendation. How do you disable the nav bar?

    • turnbasenerd says:

SystemSettings>Paranoid Preferences>ParanoidAndroid Settings>Interface. Under Workspace slide Nav. bar to 0%

      • reboot says:

Also, you may want to disable Pie Controls (by setting trigger to none). I found that it was interfering with my keyboard (space bar and lower buttons) when enabled.

  17. steve says:

when i try to install this rom i get a assert failed: getprop(“ro.product.device”) == d2tmo” error installation aborted please help!

  18. Spenny says:

So far a very stable rom (as stated in title). There are so many options and customizations, very happy with this so far. Only complaint i have is that I wish there weren’t so many options….now I have to play with my phone all night..haha
    Very sweet rom

    • stephen says:

Is gapps needed or is it good to go from the download?

      • Spenny says:

To be on the safe side, always do gapps. If you are just updating, you shouldn’t really have to unless the build calls for it. But when installing a new rom, always do gapps. 12/19/2012 is good for the gapps (newest, I think..someone plz correct if wrong). I used that one and everything is aok.. just be sure to do updates in the store when you are done..

        cheers!

  19. Tyler says:

Hey so far a pretty cool rom. I like all the customization this has and hasn’t really crashed on me yet besides trying to Bluetooth stream audio. That seems to be the only problem so far for me. Not sure if anyone else has this problem or is there a fix for it.

    On SPH-L710

  20. frankie says:

Doesn’t work for me at all. It keeps telling me “unfortunately setup wizard has stopped”. Gapps doesn’t work at all. Can’t even get passed the lock screen. Galaxy S3 L710 for Sprint and i cant figure what im doing wrong and ive installed numerous roms without a problem. Please help

  23. Tim Pineau says:

Can someone confirm if gapps is required? Don’t feel like having to do this twice to figure it out.

    • Spenny says:

gapps are always required when you flash a new rom..
the best place to go is : http://goo.im/gapps/ …that site will explain which gapps you need for which version you are installing. For example, if you are installing a rom which is version 4.2.1 for an AT&T device, you will need gapps 20121219

  28. Asterios says:

How’s bluetooth audio on this rom? I don’t want to switch if audio is still buggy. Has anyone tried using it yet? Thanks in advance!

    • Asterios says:

Also I can’t seem to d/l it from my phone.

      • Asterios says:

Ok got it to work. Installed and everything ran fine up until I tried making a phone call using a bluetooth headset. It didn’t work at first, but worked later on at random. A few hours into using this rom it started to freeze up for no apparent reason. It began with the gui animations running VERY slowly and would end with the screen going black and unresponsive. I would have to reboot only to let it happen again an hour or so later. The customization was amazing, the gui was beautiful and the options were really cool and well thought out. It’s just unstable.

  29. Terry says:

Great rom for speed and customization but have had a random shutdown like I was getting on the Liquid Smooth rom.
    Just a fluke I hope. 🙂

  45. I am using JellyBam 4.22 on my Sprint S3 – sph-L710 I like the ROM and will spend the nest year with the multitude of settings however I cannot setup any Wifi Tether. It was working with a Jellybean Dominator 4.11, never with any 4.12 nor with 4.22.
I have tried setting up the Tre. version of WiFi tether unsuccessfully. I may have the settings wrong or it may just now work. Anybody got a WiFi tether for 4.22 that WILL work with the L710?

    • I will update my own errors. The latest Rom I was able to tether was Goodness 4.1.1. I tried several 4.2.1 as well as JellyBam 4.2.2 with several proposed fixes. – No tether and it is important. Until I find a fix I will go back to Goodness as my main ROM. I really liked JellyBam otherwise but the inability to tether is a deal breaker for me.

      • Kevin says:

Well idk if this will work for this ROM but I’m running liquid smooth RC1 4.2.2. And installed the latest build of the BMS kernel and native tethering works ggood. Using Sph-L710 variant

        • Thanks,
I have bounced around and am now using Jelly-bomb v14 . it is JB 4.11 and the native Jelly-bomb tethering comes with it and works fine right away. I am not clear on any advantage (to me) to use 4.22 over 4.11 except the new whiz-bang factor. Right now everything is working so I won’t change ANYTHING for a few days.

I then tried to flash the liquidsmooth, and I keep getting an error that says “installation aborted”. What could I be doing wrong?? I have wiped the cache, delvik, even factory reset. Someone please help!! Thanks in advance 🙂

    • turnbasenerd says:

Is it in your external or internal SD card? I had trouble installing from ext card, but internal has worked just fine.

      • Kristy says:

I tried both ways. The only thing I can think of is that somehow the file is either broken or I’m not downloading it the right way. I’ve even tried installing from Rom manager, and still get the same message.

        • turnbasenerd says:

have you tried downloading the zip straight to your phone over wifi?

          • Kristy says:

I’m actually trying to do that right now. If it doesn’t work, I don’t know what else I can try. I’m getting a little discouraged :'(

            • Kristy says:

              ****UPDATE****
After an entire day (and half) of trying to figure out what i was doing wrong, I finally decided to try and direct download the ROM straight to my phone, from my phone. SUCCESS!! If anyone else has a problem downloading the ROM from the link posted, follow these steps:
              1. Make sure you have a strong wifi connection.
              2. Change your screen settings to stay on as long as possible. I had a problem with the download due to the screen timing out. Also, DO NOT use the phone while downloading this ROM. I found it stops the download, and you have to start over. The download process takes a while, so make sure your phone has a decent charge, and you have a little time to sit and wait!
              3. DO NOT unzip the file once it has completed download.
              4. Make sure you delete any partial rom files. To check if the download is a partial or not, go to your files, click on sdcard, go to downloads, and find the rom download. If there are multiple files, long press on the file, go to details, and check the size of the file. You want the bigger file. For those who don’t know, a “mb” is larger than a “kb”. You want to keep the larger download. Delete the duplicate. This may cause problems when you try to flash the rom, since you will most likely see multiple files.
              5. Proceed as you would with normal rebooting into recovery and installing from there.

This process may not work for all, but it worked for me! I’m not responsible if you do something wrong! As everyone else says, “do this at your own risk!”.
If anyone notices if i missed a step, please feel free to add!

I have 2 questions, it would be great if someone could answer them for me. 1) Does the sprint version get 4g service? Because when I look at the network settings it only says 3g/2g, 4g lte should be coming to my area soon and I don’t want to miss out. 2) It says there is an update, but when I go to update it, it opens the browser to a weird page and there aren’t any download links or anything. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys!(and gals!)

I’ve been through every option to update to 6.4 and cannot for the life of me locate where the download is….can someone give me a hand here so I can get rid of the notification? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried their website, jellybam.com? That’s where I found it and successfully downloaded 6.4. Really like it.

    • Winterfire says:

      @paul

All it does is to link u to the website to download. After flashing the new rom, the notification goes away… 🙂

I love this rom. the customizability is brilliant. Thanks for sharing
The only 2 issues i’ve hit are that there are rare random reboots and sometimes the short tap is registered as a long one. so short taps don’t work anymore. the home button brings the recent apps list and clicking on text in browsers selects it/ links give the long press menu. More than the reboots i think this is a bigger issue

  73. russell says:

I still can’t get into my gapps it just say server error what should I do to fix this?

  74. Velo Ryder says:

Downloaded 6.4 from jellybam.com. This ROM is light years ahead of LSS. And notice that the LSS development team is splitting up. I have had very few issues with Jelly bam and there are so many ways to customize it. And SwiftKey works which it did not for my LSS. Also note that Airplane Mode on Tasker is a Google issue, not a ROM issue.

  75. russell says:

Why is there no NFC available for JellyBAM 6.5 I have been using 6.4 specifically for that. Is there any info on this or any updates that will bring it back. Or am i just missing something in the settings to turn it on?

  76. RCJ says:

This ROM is great, no issues whatsoever.

Thanks to the team and to Max!

  77. Tyler says:

Love this rom. Great customization and battery life. Everything works above and beyond but one thing. If someone is on the other end of the phone call it echos to them even when I go to to voicemail it will double the numbers as I enter my pin. Had to change roms just cause of that problem. Any chance this will be fixes? Looking forward to see this rom to succeed.

How does this compare to Liquid Smooth 4.2.2. That’s what I’m running right now and it’s pretty good. Liquid Smooth is very fast and very clean(light).

    • Chris Cinelli says:

Liquid smooth is alot easier on the eyes. The blueness gets to me. Esp on the pull down menu there is a giant blue jellybean. I was on Liquid Smooth but the latest one was eating my battery so i decided to try something new since it didn’t seem like a new update was coming out soon. I might be back to it though if I cant get beyond the blue everything

    • Velo Ryder GS3 att says:

LS was fluid but very buggy. SwiftKey would not work. Tethering was not built in as far as I could tell. I was unable to control my music with my earphone buttons. And the ROM probably won’t receive the kind of support one would hope for. I find JB 6.4 and 6.5 to be great. There are always a few bugs once in a blue moon but rebooting has always solved mine. Also. the enclosed tethering option included in JB works great. My earphones can once again control my music player. There are so many customizable options in graphics and performance. I’m very happy to stick with this and the developers are constantly updating.

  79. Ryan says:

    Loving it now, Thanks Max!

Was it supposed to be a joke when they put the option to disable the “Nav” bar in Paranoid Preferences lol

  80. turnbasenerd says:

6.5 seems to have less customizations

  81. Phillip Rodriguez says:

When I try to download the zip file for gt-i9300 it saves as a .htm file. Anyone know how to resolve that? Im downloading directly from my phone.

    • jesse says:

Same thing was happening to me… I think it was cause my memory was running a little low … Try making room on or SD or download straight from your PC n transfer to your SD .. That worked for me

  82. Nash says:

Installed rom and working totally fine. I madeBackup using ClockworkMod Recovery and now after this rom I cant Restore back. Please help

  83. KBoyd says:

I am using a SCH-i535. I installed this ROM and absolutely love the broad customization options. However, I am getting no 3G/4G. I have been through all the options, wiped cache, dalvik cache, wiped data on install, toggled data on and off and still nothing. I would definitely love to keep using this ROM, can anyone advise?

  84. turnbasenerd says:

Im loving V6.6Fireball. The boot animation is super cool and the customizations are coallated better.

  85. Tjvick says:

This is a great ROM, I have not had any issues besides the screen CRT bug that kept crashing my phone, I turned that off and haven’t had a problem since, the one thing that disappoints me is that when I was on Liquid smooth i could customize the messaging app, on this one I cant, perhaps its becuase the Gapps I installed with it. Either way that shouldn’t be a deter. Wifi tethering works and so does my Bluetooth streaming in my car, which are the only things that I pretty much care about.

One thing also, does anybody have a CM10 boot logo animation for this rom, I mean the jellybam rom animation is cool and all but there is just something about that boot animation.

Other than that this a great daily driver.

  86. roni.p says:

can anyone tell me where i can get the latest update from? i had this installed on my sprint gs3 but i wasnt running the latet verion and i kept getting the “system ui has stopped” notification and i uninstalled it and am now running liquid smooth which i think is very nice but theres a few things i dont like and from what experience i had with this rom i loved it and id like to see what else it holds.

  89. salis says:

international galaxy s3: i keep getting system UI has stop working anytime i go to settings, then i have to wipe the user data, then it will start working again then if i go to setting it keeps on crashing all over again. plz someone tell me how to fix it

  90. Geoff says:

    Hi,
Tnx for all your great work! Love to try out roms and be the master of my phone.

Cant get dual bootin up and running with the latest 4.2.2 ROMS?

    Does this work ?

  91. Carlos says:

i keep getting (status 7) installation aborted … message. does anyone know what this is? I had CM10 before, then i went back to stock to get latest samsung update. I didn’t like it so i tried installing JellyBAM, but now i keep getting this error message.

  92. Adrian says:

Same issue here, I try to install this ROM and keep getting status 7 installation aborted. What is the problem?

  93. This rom is a great rom BUT it seems every time they update their rom they get rid of a issue a bring a new one. In the latest 7.0 Stable version they have fix the rebooting issue as well as the rom itself freezing and the not getting income call issue but now my wifi does not work on the rom even after a factory reset. You get rid of one problem and here rises another. Very nice rom tho a lot of great features but the bacis are all jack up.

  94. roni says:

As far as the wifi u have to instal a different kernal. I forget which 1 butvif you go to their facebook page jellybam rom official u can find a link to it in 1 of the conversations. If u dont wanna do that then just go to luquid smooth… That’s what i did n its way more stable and actually lives up to the name smooth… Jellubams really great but the new version needs a couple updates b4 perfection is acheived

    • Aaron A. says:

Yea trying to find out which kernal on there fb page is impossible because you don’t know which conversation they talk about it on. I like JB and would like to stay on it, it’s def better than Liquid Smooth to me minus this issue. If you find it tho or a link let me know.

  95. roni says:

They didnt post a link for verizon but this will take u to the kernal u need. i hope u can find the right 1 for verizon with this. And if u have any other troubles just back up the previous 6.7 update and backup only the boot and wit the kernal everything should work fine. And yea i like i also like jellybam more than ls but ls is stable smooth and is good on battery life unlike jbam which has a lot of glitches fc’s and and crashes (on my phone) ALOT… HOPE THIS HELPS THOUGH

  96. darian says:

Is there google apps for this rom?

  97. joe hen says:

I successfuly flashed it but when i reboot system the screen keeps going back and forth from samsung rt o galaxy s3 screen back and forth and vibrating once each tkme . i installed v7 anyone experience this or any solutions??

    • Aaron A. says:

I would suggest a factory reset and get the latest rom off of there website. When they put out a update my wifi ended up working.

  98. joe hen says:

I got it but cant get the touchwiz rom to work i flash it successfully but when i reboot j cant find touchwiz theme anywhere its really frustrating cause i like this rom but i want the touchwiz rom on it.

  99. joe hen says:

I meant touchwiz theme not rom

    • roni says:

Go to manage apps hit settings clear app data or something lijr that then ho home u mighy have fo something then go home 2 or 3 times but then a popup with which launcher u want then choose tw

      • joe hen says:

Whag do u mean clear data what am i clearing it from . trebuchet is the launcher now and it doesn’t like me clear default

        • roni says:

When you go to manage apps hit the settings button and there should be an option that says reset app preferences. Chioose that and when hit the home button it should give you an option to choose which launcher you want

    • Aaron A. says:

I hate the touchwiz but on there last up date they offer both options under bam settings

  100. joe hen says:

Did u ever have this problem cause i tryed everything

  101. C David says:

    Hi,
I downloaded the jellybam-v6.3.0_d2att-STABLE for my Rogers Samsung Galaxy S3. I rooted my phone and all and when I come to install the zip for jellybam, I always run in to issues saying “E: Error in /sdcard/jellybam-v6.5.0_d2att-STABLE.zip” and I’ve tried a couple times to install it and I keep getting the same message. I’ve also tried another ROM a friend of mine sent me to try, cm10.1, and I get the same message for that as well. Can someone please help and tell me how to fix this issue and get it to finally work? This is my first time rooting and installing a custom ROM on my phone and I’m running in to some crappy issues … :'(
