For this week’s Sprint Galaxy S3 SPH-L710 ROM of the week, check out Chemistry ROM. Another ROM that has multi-window enabled for the Sprint GS3, the Chemistry ROM has a mix of interesting features like Homescreen torch, Hold menu to kill apps, 7 lockscreens, Note 2 camera, hacked hotspot app, and some more.

These types of ROMs do interest me because they show some differentiation among the ROMs and I think Chemistry ROM stands out because of that.

Of course, this isn’t ROM everyone would like but if you are looking for a stock-like TouchWiz experience plus multi-window and other shortcuts, it could definitely make your life easier and happier. So, check it out for this week’s ROM of the week and spew your thoughts on what you like about the ROM!

hi max, ive installed this rom but neither wireless tether programs are working.. Any suggestions buddy?

  2. Chris says:

Multi-window is working well. Battery life seems to be comparable to stock thus far. This will be my first full day of use; I’ll report back with any issues.

  3. Matt says:

Ive been useing thus rom since the first night of release. Thus far it seems to be more stable than the synergy rom with multi, the battery seems to be alittle better, wifi tether works for me. The only issue ive ran into so far is when using the HDR camera mode it force closes the camera. Other than that im pleased with this rom.

    • Rich Rickards says:

I am having the same problem of going into the gallery from the camera. It forces closed. Also I can not find my photos from the regular gallery.

  4. Tristan says:

I’ve used this Rom for about 24hrs now and i have to say im very impressed. This is the best stock TW rom with multi-window and a couple of Note2 features. Battery life is pretty good ive gotten about 12hrs heavy use. This is better than the synergy rom by far. Everything works so far. Fast and stable

  5. I can’t get the ROM to install I keep getting failed. I’ve downloaded it multiple times and it still seems to ber corrupt or something no clue. I don’t have windows on any machines and am trying to copy it to my sd card from linux. Is there a better way I should copy the file perhaps?

    • Tristan says:

try downloading the ROM straight to your GS3 and just move it to your external SD card with the “My Files” app or if you have another file manager app that can copy and paste files.

  6. Xavier Pilier says:

IT was working fine for me but suddenly system crashed my phone froze and not it won’t boot back on just shows that booting animation and wont move further from there on! Now ODIN recovery takes freezes as well idk what happened plz help ASAP!

  7. Tristan says:

when you install make sure you do a nandroid backup first then,in this order wipe data facotry reset, wipe cache and last wipe dalvik cache then install from sd card…then reboot and the first boot is always the longest but should fully boot within 2 minutes

    • I don’t see a wipe data option. Do you mean format data?

      • Tristan says:

are you using clockwork recovery or twrp…in clockwork recovery on the first screen you will see “WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET” tha’ts the first thing you want to wipe, then wipe cache partition and then go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache, then go and select install from Sd Card and find the chemistry rom and flash it then select reboot system now

      • Tristan says:

let me know how you come out

    • Tristan says:

as soon as you get into twrp select “wipe” and then select “factory reset”. It doesnt actually say wipe date in Twrp but factory reset is equal to “wipe data/factory reset” in clockwork recovery

      • Ah ok the file must not be copying correctly to my SD card then. I”m doing what someone susgested and downlaoding it directly to my phoen then I’ll move it.

        • Tristan says:

lol that was me that suggested. yea if you can’t move it there from your pc to your sd then download directly to phone then copy and paste then go back into recovery and follow those steps but make sure its in the sd card because if not it will delete the file when you wipe factory reset

  8. Not sure what the deal is it don’t error when I copy the file from my PC. I’m thinking its the large file size who knows LOL.

    • Tristan says:

yea make sure your sd card has sufficient space too…other than that my friend idk know what to telll you

      • Miguel says:

If you have enough space in your internal memory you should be fine downloading it there and flash from internal memory. I always download ROMs straight to my GS3, over WiFi of course. I have done them both from internal and external memory with non issues

  9. Jesse from LA says:

i found a bug!!! if u go to the “choose your lock screen” option n choose one other then the s3 ripple you will brick your phone!!!! happened to me twice!!! i forgot wich one excatly i think its notary not 100% sure ….to be on the safe side u should just leave that alone… other then that, great rom !(just hope i dont get any other unexpedted surprises)

    • Tristan says:

try going back and wiping your data because that didnt happen to me and i tried every single lock screen on there

    • Nick says:

I experienced this too. Not sure which one did it though. I have it set to AOSP lockscreen now with no issues after a full wipe and reinstall.

    • Kabir says:

Same here I just tried all of the lock screens and I had no problem.

    • drew4g says:

I get this problem with my lockscreen lagging to let me in the phone. I swipe and swipe no matter what lockscreen mod I use then it goes into rebooting itself. I don’t get into an endless bootloop but it’s annoying when I’m just trying to get into my phone. FIX?

  10. kaleb says:

when i click the “download” it downloads 7zip not the rom, this is my first rom ive ever tried downloading myself, I usually have my friend do it but i would like to do it myself for once, i just can’t get the actual download

  11. Miguel says:

I been using this ROM for a couple of days and I love it. Everything works great and smooth, battery life is OK. Could be better but I am a heavy user. Since I have slow sprint data speed I been force roaming on Verizon’s network, which makes tethering a lot faster . WiFi tether works great. Haven’t tried the native hotspot yet on the V.6. It didn’t work on V.5 . But I will try it out later.

  12. Nick says:

Been running this for a little under 24 hours and had a few issues. Some major, some minor. Had to do a wipe and reinstall this morning when it froze after restart. Half the screen was the nexus logo and half was the lockscreen. I think because of the orientation it had something to do with the Multiwindow control. Not a huge deal but something to watch out for I guess. Other than that works pretty well. Stock keyboard is laggy, camera app functions like “cartoonify”, and HDR(to name a couple) crash the camera. Battery life is about the same as stock, maybe slightly less, but it’s hard to tell because I’ve been playing with it more than usual checking out the new features.

  13. C Johnson says:

I can’t get multi window to work. How do I do it?

  14. Karl says:

Hey, I love the ROM. I am a fan of the stock looking ROMS, and the additional features are great. I have had one problem, no matter what I do, neither of the tethering apps are working. I got as far as connecting to the network, but there is no internet access. Anyone have any ideas?

  15. Matthew says:

Like this rom . However my camera keeps force closing. Now my daughter has th GS2 and his have same problem. Any ideas?

    • Matt says:

Try going into the treve mod tether settings by hitting menu while in The tether and change device-profile to galaxy s3. Mine is on Auto but both tethers work for me. Also if you have a task killer you need to allow tether to run in background. Than if that don’t work try rebooting in recovery clear cache and delvic cache under advance settings. If it still don’t flash the Rom gain but clear cache and delvic before rebooting.

      • Karl says:

I have tried everything. I guess its just not in the cards. When I installed the ROM I wiped data, cache and delvic cash twice, then installed the ROM. The phone is broadcasting my SSID that I assigned, my computer connects to the phone, but just no internet access.

  16. Dillan says:

The HDR option in the camera causes the app to force close. Other than that, everything seems to work fine.

  17. Kabir says:

Seems like a great ROM still some bugs. I found that I had to enter my google account info twice to get my contacts . Also the Sony xperia lock screen would not allow me to unlock the phone, had to do a factory reset from cwm recovery and all was well.

FYI the link to the ROM on this page is for V5 if you visit the xda page linked above you can find the V6 with what looks like some great updates. Many props to Team Nocturnal!

  18. cha says:

I installed this ROM a few days ago and it seems to be eating away at my battery. My screen has been on for 59 mins, 68% battery left, 18 hrs standby. Ive barely used it at all. ive been purposely not using it trying to figure out what i wrong. I am coming from CM10.1. i also used battery calibration for chemistry ROM.

i also noticed that i lost about 10% battery or more overnight. i had 83 and woke up with 74. i dont think ive ever had that happen. i also had it on airplane mode so the battery should not have drained at all. someone please help me figure out what is going on

    • Kabir says:

Yeah I had similar issues with the battery life. Also, random reboots that would result in the phone getting stuck at the boot screen. This rom needs a bit more work.

I’m going back to the Killjoy Rom I found it to be super stable and battery life was pretty good.

      • gerald says:

I’m having the same issues with battery life and also the random reboots. I think t reboots about 4-5 times a day. Can some one please tell me how to fix this. Battery is not lasting.

  19. Jon says:

Been playing with this Rom the last few days and so far only a few minor issues. Lock screen likes to freeze up on restart showing half my wallpaper and the other half black. Changing lock screens did mess up my phone so stopped using that. Tether works fine. What I would like to see is the choice to pick your launcher when installing the rom like people’s rom does. I use apex and its laggy when downloaded from play store. Also I wouldn’t mind being able to change the boot animation.

  20. rasadami15 says:

Hey just install chemistry rom like it! But the multi Windows is not working thats the purpose of installing. Can anyone help or know why is not functionning

  21. drew4g says:

Hold down the back button down till it pops up, soon as you release the back button that should do it. *keep trying

  22. ryan says:

i got a colorful x in the loading screen and it hasn’t moved from there in a while

  23. rasadami15 says:

Greetings I’ve just seen that it has an update foe chemistry rom. For sprint s3 sph-l710. 32gb can the ma6.zip update works with the16gb

  24. dannyg says:

i have dnloaded the chemistry rom zip file & tried to install via TWRP but it’s failing.
    swiped both “cache” before installing.

    any ideas why failing? thx

  25. marcin says:

The rom is great love the stock UI. But theres a lot of forcloses and errors especially on boot. Also theres a lot of lag.tried wiping cache, delvik, and factory reset. Multiple times. Still same thing lag n all. Good rom to find out of whats coming to gs3, but not for daily use.

  26. Herb says:

I now have the chemistry rom but I want to know if it is compatible with TWRP or if there is a way to update because I am stuck on 4.1.1. and every time I’m told I have an update it doesnt update it goes to recovery and jus sits there doing nothing and I can’t find the updates anywhere
