For those of you who want to get the official Jelly Bean ROM for your Sprint Galaxy S3 easily with root, here’s a rooted ROM you can flash in CWM Recovery.

This is the official Jelly Bean LJ7 that was pushed out couple days ago from Sprint.

You can also get this by re-installing stock recovery and doing software update in settings (but you might lose root and that may take a longer time).

If you are coming from a custom ROM, you will need to do a data wipe/factory reset when installing this ROM otherwise you don’t need to. (But please do make a backup ROM just in case!)

I am having the same issue. I am using WIFI tether. It turns on like it is tethering, but it does not appear in my network list on my computer.

try going into settings, then change device profile, set it to generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
thats what I had to do on my rooted ICS stock ROM so I wonder if it would work for this also (granted youre using wifi tether and not barnacle, I have no idea about barnacle)

I was on Cyanogenmod 10, tried flashing through ROM manager (wiping cache, Dalvik, etc). It turned off. I tried booting into recovery and now I’m stuck at the Android logo with “Downloading… Do not turn off target!!” on the screen.

How can I get hotspot on this rom?

  7. Mando says:

Connor-you will probably need to gain access to cwm recovery through Odin. Make sure to wipe data/factory reset when switching between different Roms.

As far as wifi tether goes, at the moment, it won’t work with stock jelly Bean on Sprint. This has been confirmed by wifi tether app dev.

I did what you said but get “firmware update could not be completed error code 4 client authentication error try again later”
I have stock Sprint ROM rooted and reverted back to stock recovery.
I get this when I try manual “update firmware” in system settings.

    any suggestions?

    Hey Max,

Just attempted to flash this ROM with ROM Manager on my Sprint Galaxy S3. This install did not give any errors when it ran but did not install JB. I had the LG8 OTA stock rom with a rooted phone. Did backup before installing the JB ROM but cannot get into recovery to install the backup. It appears I have lost root and currently show version 4.0.4 for Android Version. Phone is running super slow and mobile network not available. Any help?

Hi, and first of all I’d like to say great work with everything you are doing. I’m new to android and am wondering what you mean you can flash with CWM Recovery. I’ve been doing a bit of digging around your site to see if I could find anything that helps but I only come to rooting the S3 but I would like to root it with JellyBean. Currently my S3 will not update to JellyBean OTA which seems weird to me, so I though I might as well use the ROM which has JellyBean already rooted. I am a great believer of RTFM and I’ve been trying to, to the best of my abilities, but I find I’m stuck. If there is anything you could point me to that would be fantastic.

Max, I flashed this rom over the HighOnAndroid v3 and everything is working fine. Can I now flash the JellyBomb rom over this since its stock or do i need a factory reset before doing that

  21. Kevin M. says:

Google Now upgrade…Is any one else getting the “package file is invalid” error trying to update Google Now on this ROM? Is there a workaround, since you can’t “uninstall the old app first”
