Looking for a fast and stable custom ROM based on Android 5.1.1 for your AT&T or T-Mobile Galaxy S3?
If so, check out the latest Dirty Unicorns ROM, which is an excellent custom ROM based on the latest Android 5.1.1 and brings you a high level of great customizations. Camera works great out of the box (I recommend the Google Camera on Play Store so you get Panorama, Lens Blur, and PhotoSphere modes) along with excellent navigation customization where you can customize all of your buttons (including Home, Back, and Menu buttons with short, long, and double-press) or even disable them altogether and go with soft navigation buttons, which you can also customize with your favorite shortcuts.
Want a solid and stable Android 5.1.1 custom ROM that’s super fast? Check out the latest AICP ROM for Galaxy S3, available for Sprint SPH-L710, Verizon SCH-i535, and GT-i9300.
Based on latest and great Android 5.1.1, AICP ROM brings you speed and performance from Google’s latest improvements to both system speed and battery life. This ROM is built on CM12.1 which means you will get all of the standard features of CM12.1 plus much more. Also this ROM is “stable” for Sprint and Verizon S3, meaning it’s highly recommended as daily driver.
For those of you who have been waiting for official CM12.1 with latest Android 5.1.1, we have some good news for you as official CM12.1 ROMs are finally here!
These are based on latest CyanogenMod sources with latest Android 5.1.1, meaning you will get all of the new Android 5.1.1 features including soft buttons with hardware keys disabled.
Want to experience Android 5.1 on your Galaxy S3 today? Even newer smartphones like Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 don’t have Android 5.1 yet but you can already get it for your Galaxy S3 through CM12.1 ROM.
The CM12.1 ROM builds are available for all AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, Canadian, and GT-i9300 Galaxy S3 models. Although these are unofficial builds compiled from CyanogenMod sources, they are actually pretty stable, I haven’t found a single bug yet so far.
For those of you who have been waiting for a Android 5.0.2 Lollipop ROM, there’s been many beta versions in the last few months.
If you own the GT-i9300 model, you are in luck as the Lollipop ROM runs near flawless with everything working out of the box. As for AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, or Verizon S3 users, you will also get pretty stable build except the camera/camcorder is not working. (You can get still photos working sorta with Open Camera app.) If this is a concern to you, you may want to wait out few more weeks for camera fix.
For this week’s Galaxy S3 ROM of the Week, check out latest LiquidSmooth ROM v3.2!
Couple weeks back we did feature this ROM but it had a broken front-facing camera, which was a deal breaker for many of you. Well, I think Team LiquidSmooth has finally got everything right with camera working along with slew of other goodies.
For those of you with a Galaxy S3 GT-i9300, you are in luck as S5 Sensations ROM by XDA user Sunajkram23 brings you a real “S5 port” to your Galaxy S3.
Inside S5 Sensations, you will find goodies like native call recording, modded S5 launcher with theme support, Ultra Power Saving Mode (Yes get 10 days of battery life!), S5 lockscreen effects, quad multi-window, and much more.
For this week’s Galaxy S3 AOSP ROM of the Week (What is AOSP?), check out Gummy ROM!
Now back with Android 4.4.4, Gummy ROM also has released their M3 milestone, meaning it’s stable release with everything working out of the box. (For all models except GT-i9300, which is still nightly.)
For this week’s Sprint Galaxy S3 ROM of the Week, check out Wicked X ROM by XDA user Bilgerryan. I was actually itching to try out this ROM for weeks but hesitated as earlier versions required bootloader update.
Well, the latest version 8 doesn’t require bootloader update (as I believe it’s because KTweaker kernel is used) and have successfully installed on my Sprint S3 with a really old bootloader (I think my last update was ICS).
