CyanFox ROM with Android 4.4.1 KitKat for Sprint Galaxy S3!

For this week’s Sprint Galaxy S3 ROM of the week, check out CyanFox ROM.

Built on latest Android 4.4.1 CM11, CyanFox ROM brings you a custom-tailored KitKat ROM for the Sprint S3 with everything working out of the box including camera, camcorder, 3G/4G LTE, and more.

You will also find a slight level of UI customization with support for Dark UI, interface/lockscreen/power menu customization, and ability to set custom actions for your hardware buttons.

Overall, CyanFox ROM is probably one of the best Android 4.4.1 KitKat custom ROMs you can flash right now so definitely give it a go this week(end) and do let me know what you think if you have a Sprint Galaxy S3 SPH-L710!

Download CyanFox ROM for Sprint Galaxy S3 SPH-L710

Download Android 4.4 Gapps (DO NOT USE OLDER 4.3 Gapps you will FC!!!)

NOTE: You need to update you CWM Recovery to v6.0.4.3 or higher OR also update your TWRP Recovery to v2.6.3.3 or higher.  You can use either ROM Manager app or Goo Manager app from Play Store to update.

To install, reboot into recovery, make backup ROM, wipe data/factory reset, install ROM, install Gapps, and reboot.   (If for some reason you end up in a bootloop, reboot into recovery, go to Advanced Wipe for TWRP or Mounts & Storage for CWM, format/wipe /system, then re-install ROM.)

Note: CM11 does not have root enabled by default but you can easily enable it for adb & apps in Developer options.  If you do not know how to do this, see this video.

i had this same issue when I installed CF4.4 too. I hungup on the phone call and skipped the activation and manually programmed my phone (got the MSL and MSID from carrier, it helps if your not an ass to the guys at the store.) You will also need the MDN.

MSL = 6-digit access code to start the manual programming operation. Entered as “##6-digits#” on the telephone keypad as if to make a call. Upon hitting the last ‘#’ it should AUTOMATICALLY take you to a new screen. Choose EDIT. Click on MDN and enter YOUR Mobile Device Number aka MDN. Then pick MSID and change that to your phone’s designated 10-digit number (should be a different number than your MDN, but not always). Pick “Done” or save changes or apply changes whatever the case may be. Device will reset and the Activation process should be automatic.

I have noticed that for some reason it doesn’t pick up the 4G LTE signal like it used too on my previous go-to ROM ‘ThePeople’sROM’. BUT! i like the options of profiles and many other extras in this ROM. The bootup screen seems to take less time as well so thats a plus! I’ll set the phone up in my room like I normally do overnight and we’ll see how well the wifi tethering handles things. Really diggin the ROM but if the signal strength doesnt improve I’ll have to try to find something else.

Also I installed with TWRP not CWM dont know if that makes a difference or not but I seem to have a 50/50 ratio with weither or not a rom will work on one or the other.

Why do ALL CM based roms have the same “invisible internal SD card” issue…. Using Astro and can only see external SD card… Don’t matter what 4.4 rom “CM”….

Installed this last night, It works perfect. No issues whats so ever. Came from Carbon 4.3 rom which was great. I backed up, wiped, installed. Perfect.

Is there a modded version of the newest recovery menus for the newer Sprint s3’s? I have to use modded custom recovery menus or I can’t mint storage. Hence, without a modded version of either of the newest recoveries, I’m boned. I can’t try Kit Kat. So… yeah. What’s the status on that? Is it here, is it coming? I’m not a dev, so I’m kind of dependent on others for these things. No one owes me anything… but it would be greatly appreciated

tooandrew As far as I know you should be able to download either GooManager or Rom Installer, use either of those programs to flash the latest recoveries either TeamWin or clockwork. After that you should be good to go as long as you are rooted of course.

I can’t get the WiFi to work on my Sprint S3

awesome, fastest rom i have used. I did update it in CWM to 4,2,2 but it rocks, Thanks. only thing is Glide video messenger doesnt work but i will sacrifice it for the rest of the goodness.

  11. Royce says:

There is an issue with any app using the camera that faces you. The Cam works when you use it but an app cant use it for some reason

I’ve had so many issues with this ROM. First it had issues activating the data and it also regularly loses mobile signal and the phone app crashes regularly for me, especially during phone calls. I was overall disappointed as I was using Carbon before without issue.. it just didn’t have KitKat. Will be trying another ROM soon.
